This bespoke book is part of a series on daydreaming. Each book in the series includes an original linoprint together with the block it was printed from, bringing to light an element of the creative practice which is usually hidden from view and playing on the theme of visible and concealed emotions. The lino block is embellished with gold leaf to elevate a typically invisible and discarded item to the level of an artwork in itself, making it even more eye-catching than the print. The central illustration is accompanied by a poem – Christina Rossetti’s ‘Hollow-Sounding and Mysterious’ – printed in gold foil. The book-cloth covered panels of the concertina-folded book are connected with hinges, like a folding screen, which also ties to the theme of hiding and revealing.
